Glendale at a Loss Again, 54-52
Two weeks ago, Glendale High was thinking about challenging Crescenta Valley for the Pacific League girls’ basketball title.
Now, the Dynamiters are fighting to make the playoffs.
Muir handed Glendale its third consecutive loss, 54-52, on Tuesday night at Muir, dropping the Dynamiters into a three-way tie for second place with Muir and Arcadia.
A Glendale victory over Arcadia or a Muir loss to Pasadena on Thursday will clinch one of the league’s three playoff berths for Glendale (14-10, 5-4).
Pola Aghakhanians scored 14 points, Alina Markari had 11 points and Stephanie Sabins added 10 points for the Dynamiters, who trailed by 13 points before rallying in the second half.
April DeJohnette scored 15 points for the Mustangs (11-12), defending Southern Section Division III-A champions.
Harvard-Westlake 79, Chaminade 23--Omelogo Udeze had 16 points and five steals for the Wolverines (21-5, 8-1) in a Mission League victory at Harvard-Westlake.
Hart 53, Burbank 34--Briana Kentfield had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Indians (20-2, 9-0) in a Foothill League game at Hart.
Moorpark 80, Calabasas 16--Damaris Hinojosa had 21 points, 16 steals and seven assists for the Musketeers, who clinched a share of their third consecutive Frontier League title.
Meghan Finnerty added 20 points and 11 rebounds for Moorpark (20-3, 9-0).
Buena 69, San Marcos 31--Kelly Greathouse had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who clinched their 10th consecutive Channel League title.
Robyn Frost added 15 points for Buena (22-2, 13-0), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, has won 57 consecutive league games.
Valencia 56, Saugus 31--Tiffany Morgan scored 14 points for the Vikings (18-6, 7-2) in a Foothill League victory, clinching second place and the school’s first postseason berth.
Ventura 46, Rio Mesa 33--Erin Oshita scored 18 points for the Cougars (16-6, 11-2) in a Channel League victory at Rio Mesa.
Karla Kanongataa scored 10 points for Rio Mesa.
La Canada 43, Monrovia 30--Lyndsay Fujimoto scored 19 points to help the Spartans (10-11, 7-2) win a Rio Hondo League at Monrovia.
Nordhoff 75, Santa Clara 49--Erin Barker had 27 points for the Rangers (19-5, 7-1) in a Frontier League victory at Santa Clara (9-11, 3-5).
Montclair Prep 55, South Bay Lutheran 24--Freshman Czarina Rinon scored 18 points for the victorious Mounties (11-6) at Montclair Prep.
Notre Dame 61, Louisville 49--Judy Diaz scored 16 points for the Knights (15-7, 5-4), who clinched third place with a Mission League victory.
Paraclete 60, Mojave 44--Christine Lambert had 26 points and 15 rebounds for the Spirits (16-5, 6-3) in a High Desert League victory at Mojave.
Burroughs 56, Canyon 42--JoAnna Garrick scored 13 points for the victories Indians (15-8, 5-4), who secured third in the Foothill League.
Palmdale 45, Littlerock 44--Vanetta Lanier scored 19 points, including a go-ahead layup with 35 seconds remaining, and the Falcons (14-11, 9-0) won their 39th consecutive league game and clinched their fourth consecutive Golden League championship at Palmdale.
Highland 56, Antelope Valley 35--Kameelah Purdom had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (17-5, 7-2) in a Golden League victory at Antelope Valley.
Ribet Academy 85, First Lutheran 24--LeAnne Bennett had 65 points and 28 rebounds in a Heritage League game.
