BOYS’ BASKETBALL

* Bolsa Grande at Pacifica, 7:30 tonight: Duc Nguyen, Jon James and company lost at home the first time the Matadors played the Mariners. Nguyen and James are among county scoring leaders, but it will be no easy task at Pacifica in this showdown for a share of the Garden Grove League title. Jeff Swan was remarkable on defense the first time the teams met, a 72-58 Pacifica victory. The Mariners have a 14-game winning streak.

* Ocean View at Servite, 7 Friday: This is a rematch of a 48-44 thriller won by Ocean View. The top-ranked Seahawks, led by 6-10 center Kevin Hanson and 6-4 junior Matt Kiemle, and the third-ranked Friars, headed by 6-5 guard Rafael Zielonka and 6-5 forward Steve Shea, are playing some of their best defense of the season. The teams appear to be peaking for the playoffs at the right time.
