50 Beach Lifeguard Jobs to Be Filled
The city is looking for ocean lifeguards to provide a first line of protection for swimmers at local beaches.
Officials are seeking applicants 17 or older, in excellent health with at least 20/40 uncorrected vision. The job pays $11.05 an hour.
Applicants will participate in three physical events: a 1,000-yard ocean swim, a 500-yard ocean swim and a 1,500-yard run-swim-run. They also must complete a pre-training oral exam.
As many as 50 candidates will be chosen. They will be required to register for a lifeguard training program at Golden West College.
