Paul Hull of Oxnard, an arts and crafts hobbyist whose works appeared in local festivals including the Ventura County Fair, died Monday. He was 76.

Hull was born June 3, 1921, in Union Furnace, Ohio, and served in France and Germany during World War II as a bomber mechanic for the Army Air Corps.

Hull returned to Ohio after the war and painted aircraft, worked as a house painter and boiler operator. Nineteen years ago, he moved to Ventura County, and for several years was a maintenance technician for St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

After retirement, his arts and crafts career blossomed in a little shop behind his Oxnard home. He enjoyed using everyday items to create art, such as making model airplanes out of small cans.

Hull is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his son, Gary of Camarillo; a grandson; and several cousins. His daughter, Barbara Zeune of Camarillo, died in 1985.

At his request, services are private. Conejo Mountain Memorial Park & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
