Times Wire Services
No. 9 New Mexico lost more than a game Saturday night when it learned that starting guard Royce Olney will be lost for the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Olney suffered the injury in the second half of New Mexico’s 95-64 loss to Texas Christian. Olney drove into the lane and stopped to plant before his knee gave way. The 6-2 senior was third on the team in scoring at 15.3 points a game and the top three-point shooter, making 52.3% (80 of 153) from long range.
