Information Office for Freeway Project Opens
Seeking to alleviate the concerns of residents over the construction of California 30 through La Verne, Claremont and San Dimas by 2002, Caltrans opened a satellite office to provide a link to those communities.
“We understand there are many questions and concerns residents might have while we construct the freeway [extension],” said Tony Harris, District 7 director for the state Department of Transportation. “We want to do everything we possibly can to make the road to construction a smooth one for everyone involved.”
The extension, which could cost as much as $1 billion, will stretch from San Dimas to near San Bernardino. The project is scheduled for completion by 2002.
The La Verne office at 4000 Wheeler Ave. will display wall maps and other visual aids to help answer questions, Caltrans officials said. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. In addition, Caltrans has also established a California 30 Hotline: (909) 596-3526.
