Odyssey of the Mind Tournament Today

About 250 Orange and San Diego county students will take on mind-bending challenges in today’s Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament.

In some of the creative assignments, the students--from first through 12th grade--will take on the roles of animals and come up with solutions for societal problems.

The nonprofit, national organization, founded by a New Jersey college professor in 1978, challenges about 1 million students across the county to solve such creative problems. Regional winners proceed to state, national and world competitions.

More than 50 five-member teams will meet at 8 a.m. today at Aliso Niguel High School for the all-day event, which will culminate in a 7 p.m. awards ceremony.
