Ice Dogs Win in Shootout, 5-4

John Byce and Patrik Stefan scored in the shootout round Friday as the Long Beach Ice Dogs slipped past the Houston Aeros, 5-4, in International Hockey League play.
Long Beach trailed, 2-0, before Vitali Yachmenev, Byce and Stefan scored in a 4:56 span early in the second period to give the Ice Dogs a 3-2 lead. Houston tied the score on Brian Wiseman’s power-play goal with 7:20 remaining in the period.
Victor Ignatjev’s power-play goal gave the Ice Dogs a 4-3 lead with 12:55 left. Ken McRae’s power-play goal tied the game with 53 seconds to play.
