City 4-A Finals Will Be Televised by Channel 58
City Section athletes playing for championships next weekend will receive plenty of exposure on KLCS Channel 58, the Los Angeles Board of Education’s television station.
The girls’ and boys’ City 4-A basketball finals Friday will be televised live from the Sports Arena, with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys’ at 8 p.m.
The girls’ and boys’ City 4-A soccer finals next Saturday at East Los Angeles College will be televised live for the first time, the girls’ starting at 4 p.m. and the boys’ at 6 p.m.
KLCS televised the City 4-A and 3-A football championship games and plans to broadcast the City track finals. It hopes to televise the City 4-A and 3-A baseball finals from Dodger Stadium. The station produced preview shows for football, basketball, soccer and baseball.
“The superintendent feels [televising high school sports] is important because it shows kids doing something positive,” KLCS producer Richard Cochran said.
