Police Seek Burglary Charges Against Parolee

Santa Monica police will ask the district attorney’s office to file burglary charges against a parolee suspected in a string of home burglaries, authorities said.
Willie Banks, 43, of North Hollywood is suspected in about 30 residential burglaries that occurred late last summer in Santa Monica, said Lt. Gary Gallinot of the Santa Monica Police Department.
Banks was connected to the crimes by blank checks allegedly stolen in one of the Santa Monica burglaries and then forged by an acquaintance, Gallinot said.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Banks on Sept. 9 in connection with home burglaries in North Hollywood. Santa Monica police connected him to the Westside burglaries about 10 days ago, Gallinot said.
Banks, now a third-strike candidate, was on parole for theft and drug possession convictions at the time of his arrest.
