Defeat Turned Into an ‘Accomplishment’

“Ventura County 10: People Who Will Make News in 1998” (Dec. 30). So one of Dennis Gillette’s “latest accomplishments” was garnering “more votes than any replacement candidate” on the Thousand Oaks recall ballot. Oh? Out here, we call that losing. How is that an accomplishment?

And whose interests are being served by putting the best possible spin on that loss? Clearly those of the residents of Thousand Oaks are not.
