Calabasas Project

As one of the Save Our City activists who spent years working to downsize and improve the Calabasas Park Centre project, I want to commend The Times for its insightful article “Calabasas Centre Has Come Full Circle,” Jan. 4.
After years of determined homeowner opposition to a proposed massive office-retail development, the developers entered into negotiations with residents that eventually led to a plan acceptable to the Calabasas community. The lesson for developers of large projects is to actively seek involvement and dialogue with leaders of the residential communities that will be impacted. A project that incorporates input and gains support from residents stands a far better chance of success than one that is bulldozed through City Hall.
