Vernon Spencer; Owned Precision Machine Firm
Vernon Eugene Spencer of Camarillo, owner of Valley Design Manufacturing, a precision machine company in Moorpark, died Jan. 24. He was 71.
Spencer moved to Camarillo in 1990, a few years after he moved his small business from Van Nuys. He began his company in 1970.
He enjoyed gardening, and he loved antique cars. At different times, he owned a Ford Model A truck, a classic MG and a Corvette.
Born Aug. 10, 1926, in Little Rock, Ark., Spencer attended the University of Little Rock and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was past president of the alumni association of Fuller High School in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Chadwell Spencer of Camarillo; his son, Christopher of Saugus; his daughter, Marianne Spencer Chard of San Jose; his brothers, Wallace of San Diego and William of Little Rock; his sister, Jane Spencer Cazort of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday at Santa Barbara Cemetery in Santa Barbara. Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
