Serving, setting, bumping and spiking. That’s how 130 students ages 11 to 14 are spending the summer as Youth Volleyball classes continue for the 34th year in Manhattan Beach.
“You have the sand and the sea and the sunshine,” said Charlie Saikley, recreation supervisor of the program. “You’ve got paradise out here. And you’re teaching these kids to play volleyball.”
Offered by the Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department, the classes are given twice a week with tournaments on Fridays.
