Teen Sitting in Car Shot in Forehead

An Oxnard man was in good condition Saturday afternoon after being shot in the forehead early Saturday morning.
Angel Richard Lucero, 18, was sitting in a car with a friend in a parking lot at 601 S. Ventura Road about 1:30 a.m. when at least one round was fired through the window with a small-caliber handgun, Oxnard police said.
“It just kind of slowed it down enough,” Sgt. Dan Christian said.
Officers are still investigating the motive of the male suspect, who was seen in a maroon 1980s Buick Regal.
Lucero’s friend dropped him off at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and then sped off.
Lucero was later transferred to Ventura County Medical Center, where he is expected to undergo surgery.
