A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured when a large branch from a eucalyptus tree fell on her and three other youngsters Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Brynette Juarez of Huntington Beach was pinned under the branch at 2:05 p.m. when she went to drink from a water fountain in Central Park at 17585 Gothard St., Huntington Beach Police Lt. Luis Ochoa said. Paramedics freed the girl and took her to UCI Medical Center in Orange, he said.
The other injured girls, ages 4, 6 and 8, were treated at the scene, Ochoa said. The girls were at the park for a church field trip, he said.
The hospitalized girl was in fair condition Friday with a head injury, facial fractures and a broken leg, said hospital spokeswoman Kim Pine.
