Council to Rule on Tapo Bridge Contract

Taking another step in the effort to shape Tapo Street into a profitable commercial hub, the City Council will decide Monday whether to award a contract for the long-awaited Tapo Street bridge.
Council members will consider a proposal for Lemay General Engineering Inc. to build the bridge linking the area’s business and industrial parks to Tapo Street’s commercial corridor.
The bridge over the Arroyo Simi will cost more than $1.4 million, but the city will not spend its own money.
Funds will come from the state’s Economic Development Agency, the Southern California Water Co. and the Oltmans Investment Co., which owns some of the property upon which the bridge will be built.
City officials expect the bridge to be completed by December.
The City Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
