Another round with the big blue bear; getting real with family issues; Dr. Seuss’ nightly visits

The host of the show is a 7-foot orange bear with a lot of warmth and understanding. He and his puppet friends--Treelo, Tutter, Ojo and the otter twins, Pip and Pop--are back to teach kids through songs, stories and more in the second season of Bear in the Big Blue House (Disney, weekdays at 10 a.m. and weekends at 8 a.m.). At least 19 cable networks will simulcast Take a Moment (Monday at 7:30 p.m.), a half-hour, commercial-free special that kicks off the cable industry’s Tune In To Kids and Family Week II (June 8-14). The show is hosted by actress Melissa Joan Hart and actor Donald Faison and features CityKids, a multicultural group of young performers. It focuses on communication between parents and kids about real-life issues and the impact of television. For the family.

Each night for a week, a different Dr. Seuss television special will be presented on the Cartoon Network at 8 p.m., beginning Monday. In the first offering, Horton, a big-hearted elephant, saves a race of diminutive humanoids from extinction on Horton Hears a Who. The week ends with The Cat in the Hat (Friday at 8 p.m.), in which the cat visits the home of two children and nearly destroys it. For ages 2 to 5.
