Helicopters

Stricter restrictions on allowing helicopters to swarm over our congested city’s basin should not worry their operators (“Crack- down on Copters Causes a Buzz,” June 8). What should be worrying these pilots is what will happen if their low-flying copters plunge into an innocent neighborhood.
As a high-rise condominium building resident in Century City, I endure many nights when these “attack tourist copters” fly in at all hours from Van Nuys airport. They plant these ear-piercing helicopters in a still position inches above our towering buildings for what seems to be hours.
Repeatedly calling the FAA has done nothing to stop this practice. The pilots say that they are concerned about what defines “a congested area.” Do the words “9 million people living underneath their machines” mean anything to them?
