High-Speed Chase Ends in Collision
An Oxnard man was in jail Monday after a high-speed chase through city streets ended in a head-on collision, authorities said.
Police said they attempted to stop an Oldsmobile Cutlass near 2nd and H streets for a traffic violation Sunday about 1:40 p.m. The driver, however, accelerated and headed south, reaching speeds of more than 65 mph.
On J Street, traffic was backed up at the Hill Street intersection. The driver, according to police, moved into the northbound lane, clipping one vehicle before colliding head-on with another. The patrol car ran into the Oldsmobile at the end of the chase.
Drivers in the two vehicles hit by the Oldsmobile suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the car that was hit head-on suffered moderate injuries, police said.
The patrol officer, Alex Arnett, was not injured.
The driver of the Oldsmobile, Oscar Aguilar Siqueiros, 21, was arrested at the scene and complained of shoulder pain, police said. Another man in Siqueiros’ car ran away and was still at large.
Siqueiros was in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of evading a peace officer, hit-and-run, driving under the influence of alcohol and being under the influence of drugs. Bail was set at $20,000.
He is set to be arraigned today.
