Calabasas to Host Its 1st 4th of July Celebration
The city of Calabasas will hold a Fourth of July celebration on the campus of Calabasas High School.
This year’s celebration comes after negotiations between the Las Virgenes Unified School District and the City Council.
In May, the school district set up restrictions to prevent damage to the high school campus. City officials agreed to limit attendance to 2,250 people, have attendees sit in the grass rather than in the bleachers and ban alcohol and tobacco on the campus.
“This year is the city’s first attempt at putting something like this together so we’re taking a low-key approach,” said Greg Johnson, the city’s community service director.
Attendees may bring blankets and portable coolers but no chairs.
The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with fireworks starting at 9 p.m.
Admission is $3 and children under 2 get in free. Parking is $5.
The high school is at 22855 Mulholland Highway.
