Fluor Wins Contract to Build Steel Plant
IRVINE — Bethlehem Steel Corp. said it has awarded contracts to Fluor Corp.’s Fluor Daniel unit and VA Technologie AG of Austria to build a $300-million cold-rolling mill at a Maryland steel plant.
VA Tech, Austria’s largest engineering company, said it will supply equipment for the mill and production lines for $117.4 million. The value of Fluor Daniel’s engineering services contract wasn’t disclosed.
Bethlehem said in October that it would replace its older cold-rolling mill with a modernized, more efficient facility to make smooth-finished steel used in autos and appliances.
