PacifiCare Health Systems Promotes Executive
* Arnold B. Hebert Jr. has been named senior vice president, corporate sales and marketing for PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., a Santa Ana managed health care service company. He had been vice president of corporate sales. Hebert succeeds Craig S. Schub, who resigned from the post to focus exclusively on Secure Horizons, PacifiCare’s Medicare risk program. Hebert joined PacifiCare of California as senior vice president of sales in 1993 and in 1997 was appointed vice president of corporate sales and marketing at PacifiCare Health Systems.
* Andrew Meyer has joined Platinum Software Corp. in Irvine as vice president, product marketing. He was previously director of marketing for Scientific Atlanta’s Terrestrial Network Systems and before that, director of product marketing at Sales Technologies Inc. In addition, John Montague has been named vice president, business development. He has held a number of senior-level positions at Platinum, including director in product, field and channel marketing. Before that, Montague was manager of business development at Microsoft Corp. The company also said that Michael J. Simmons, chief financial officer and vice president of finance, resigned to become president and chief operating officer with a system integration and software products company in the Southeastern United States. No successor has been named.
* Karick M. Brown has been named vice president of operations for Bergheer California Inc., a Newport Beach building and development firm. Before joining Bergheer California, Brown directed new business development and acquisitions for the William Lyon Property Management Co. in Newport Beach. He also spent seven years with General Electric Capital Corp. in Irvine, serving as asset manager, property manager, senior constructor inspector and financial analyst.
* Jill Kanzler has been named vice president of Gladstone International, an Irvine public relations firm. Before joining the firm four years ago, she managed political campaigns throughout Southern California and was a research associate in the office of President Reagan.
* Edward D. Jones III has been appointed senior vice president of the Centris Group Inc., a Costa Mesa insurance company. Jones, a vice president since 1993, has been in charge of Centris’ business planning, strategic planning, government affairs and customer service departments. Before joining Centris, Jones was executive vice president and a member of the board of directors of Medical Review Systems.
* Richard P. Riley has joined the Irvine law firm of Kasdan, Simonds, McIntyre, Epstein & Martin. He will manage the new Northern California office in San Jose. Riley is a trial attorney with experience in construction defect and general tort litigation.
* Robert E. Enright has been named vice president of sales for Veronex Technologies Inc., an Irvine software company. He was previously with Cyborg Systems Inc., Software 2000 Inc. and Management Science America Inc.
* Diana Macfee has joined Morgan Marketing & Public Relations in Irvine as an account supervisor. She will manage the Cupertino office. Macfee joined Morgan Marketing in 1994 and then moved to Cupertino as public relations manager for Cisco Systems.
* Gardnar O’Brien has joined JAMS/Endispute, an Irvine provider of alternative dispute resolution services, as senior vice president and chief financial and administrative officer. O’Brien most recently served as a finance director for Advo Inc., a direct mail advertising company. Susan Marie Lomenzo is the new vice president of sales and marketing. Lomenzo worked for Sprint from 1992-98 and at MCI for six years.
* Glenn Stewart has been appointed director of sales and service for Yorba Linda-based Unit Instruments Inc., a manufacturer of mass flow controllers and gas delivery systems for the semiconductor and industrial markets. He was previously a global account manager for Air Products in Mountainview. Odile Ronat has been named director of marketing and will be responsible for company-wide business planning, product management and product promotion. She joined the company from Bal Seal Engineering Co. in Santa Ana, where she was vice president of sales and marketing. In addition, Joe Taormina has been appointed director of industrial sales. Taormina had been director of sales in North and South America for Whessoe Varec, a division of Endress & Hauser in Cypress.
* Mark Chealander has joined FileNet Corp. in Costa Mesa as vice president, engineering. He will oversee all engineering operations in the company’s Bellevue, Wash., development center. Chealander previously served as vice president of research and development for Bothell, Wash.-based Traveling Software.
* David McKeever has joined Quality Software Systems Inc., a warehouse management systems provider, as senior account manager and point person for Far East sales. He will be based in Costa Mesa. McKeever was previously a network development schedule coordinator with Sprint PCS.
* David K. Chamberlain has joined Techmedia, a Garden Grove computer products manufacturer, as vice president of sales. Chamberlain had been with Gateway 2000, most recently as director of corporate sales of the Americas.
* Michael Neill has been named vice president of corporate development for Caliber Collision Centers, an Irvine-based collision repair provider to the insurance industry. Neill was previously with Apria Healthcare Group Inc., where he served as director of acquisitions.
* Jeffrey J. Miller has been named president and chief executive of Reprogen Inc., a privately held company focused on reproductive medicine. Miller was previously senior vice president of corporate development for Ostex International Inc., and senior vice president of corporate development at NeoRx Corp. In addition, David H. MacCallum, managing director and global head of health care banking for Union Bank of Switzerland, has joined the board of directors.
* Alan J. Band has been named to the new position of vice president of MotorVac Technologies Inc.’s Automotive Solutions division. Before joining the company, Band was national sales manager for Unelko Corp., a manufacturer of automotive protectants and lubricants. Before that, he was director of marketing for Dial Corp. and a marketing manager for U.S. Borax.
* Steven Riter has been appointed vice president of land acquisition for Irvine-based Catellus Residential Group’s Northern California home-building operations. Previously, Riter was a land acquisition executive with Summerhill Homes of Palo Alto. In addition, Kenneth R. Benson has been named project manager in the company’s merchant housing division. He has been a project analyst and assistant project manager for the last three years.
* Craig Long is the new director of sales for the Surf & Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach. He had been associate director of sales at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for six years.
* Christa H. Brinkley has joined Milestone Risk Management & Insurance Services in Irvine. She will manage the company’s Life Division Process, responsible for helping clients simplify estate planning. She was formerly with Bankers Life and Casualty’s Virginia Beach and Brea offices.
