Beschen Advances to Quarterfinals

Shane Beschen of San Clemente, the ninth-ranked surfer in the world, advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s main round in the Clarion-Billabong Surf Tour at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz.

Joining Beschen today in the quarterfinals will be Nate Acker, Josh Loya, Chris Gallagher, Adam Repogle, Cory Lopez, Brian Hewitson and David Speir. Speir had the high score of the third round with 24.34 points. Beschen’s score was unavailable.

The surf was five to six feet high for the third round. Local forecasts call for the same type of conditions today.
