Sunny Days Are Here Again, Forecasters Say

Mostly sunny skies and mild afternoon temperatures in the low-70s and upper-60s are expected this week, weather forecasters said Sunday.

“It should be a nice one,” said Jeff House, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times.

“There’s a high-pressure system in the area which most of the time brings fair weather conditions.”

What about the rain?

“I don’t see anything in my five-day forecast, so Southern California is in good shape,” House said, “while anything that happens in Northern California this week should be light.”

Sunny skies with few high clouds are expected today with afternoon highs in the low-70s in the San Fernando Valley and morning lows in the upper-40s to low-50s, House said.

Today’s highs are expected to be 73 in Chatsworth and Van Nuys and 72 for Woodland Hills and Burbank.

Low temperatures will be 46 in Woodland Hills, 47 in Chatsworth and Burbank and 48 in Van Nuys.

Mostly sunny skies are also expected for Tuesday with high temperatures in the low-70s and lows in the upper-40s to low-50s.

A cold front going through Northern California will create breezy conditions Tuesday with wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph from late morning to the late evening, House said.

Cloudy skies and slightly cooler temperatures are expected for Wednesday, House said.

Morning lows in the upper-40s to low-50s will warm up to afternoon highs in the upper 60s Wednesday.

Similar conditions are forecast for Thursday and Friday with highs in the upper-60s and lows ranging from the mid- to upper-40s.
