Regime Arrests 40 in Alleged Bomb Plot

The military regime arrested 40 people it accuses of planning to bomb government buildings and embassies and assassinate the country’s leaders. A government spokesman said the plot was masterminded by the All Burma Students Democratic Front. A spokesman for the students’ front, Aung Naing Oo, said the group had given up armed struggle and was seeking change through nonviolent defiance. “We didn’t have anything to do with this,” he said.
