IRS Office to Offer Service on Saturdays

The Internal Revenue Service office in Oxnard is adding Saturday service to help people during the tax-filing season, officials said.
The office, at 2500 Financial Square, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays beginning this weekend.
IRS agents will be distributing 1997 tax forms and publications, accepting tax payments and assisting people in obtaining an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, said Chips Maurer, IRS communications director.
The IRS toll-free customer service line--(800) 829-1040--is available during normal weekday business hours and from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, Maurer said.
