No. 1 Capistrano Valley (25-0-4) vs. No. 3 Mission Viejo (20-3-4)

Two South Coast League teams take the field in prime time to decide the Southern Section Division I girls’ soccer title, a game both teams have anticipated since the beginning of the season. In league play, the teams tied twice, 0-0, and, 1-1. The Cougars won the league title after third-seeded Mission Viejo faltered against Mater Dei, playing to a 1-1 tie. Top-seeded Capistrano Valley is undefeated this season, with 19 shutouts. Along with the Mission Viejo ties, they also tied Upland and Edison, all top-10 Division I teams. An illness- and injury-plagued Mission Viejo suffered three early losses to Esperanza, Los Alamitos and Chino and has recorded 17 shutouts.
