Two men were listed in critical condition late Friday after they were stabbed near Venice High School by six attackers, police said.
The attack occurred at 3:05 p.m. and the victims tried to flee and get to the hospital by boarding a bus on Venice Boulevard, said Lt. Raymond Foster of the Los Angeles police Pacific Division. The bus driver refused to drive them, he said.
After police were called, the victims were taken to UCLA Medical Center, where one underwent surgery for abdominal wounds. A hospital official said both were expected to stabilize.
Police interviewed witnesses but no suspects were in custody Friday evening. Foster said the fight was thought to be gang-related and that neither the attackers nor the victims were students.
