Dr. Yocum Finds a Full Waiting Room
Team physician Lewis Yocum arrived at Tempe Diablo Stadium on Friday and discovered his workload had doubled.
Second baseman Randy Velarde, who underwent reconstructive elbow surgery last April, was able to carpool with a teammate on his way to get an MRI. Catcher Todd Greene, who was scheduled to throw for 15 minutes Friday morning, had to stop after 10 because of tightness in his right shoulder and it was decided that he, too, should have an MRI. Greene had arthroscopic surgery on the shoulder in November.

Left-hander Chuck Finley had another rough exhibition outing, giving up nine hits and six runs in three innings. Even so, that was enough for the victory in the Angels’ 18-6 win over the Cubs.
