Marijuana and the Courts

* Re “Judge to Rule on Prosecutors’ Effort to Close Medical Cannabis Center,” Feb. 27.

The people of California have cast their vote in favor of medical marijuana. It is the job of our government officials to carry out that ruling.

I say take marijuana out of the courts. The only ones getting rich are the attorneys and the drug dealers. We waste billions of tax dollars tying up the courts and building more jails.

This is the millennium. The days of “reefer madness” are as outdated and impractical as Prohibition.

I do not advocate the use of marijuana for those who are under-age, as I certainly would not advocate for them to drink alcohol.

On a recent trip to Amsterdam, where it is perfectly legal to smoke marijuana in coffeehouses, I found living proof to the rest of the world that decriminalization of marijuana works very well.

If Dist. Atty. Mike Bradbury wishes to be reelected, he’ll have to change his outmoded way of thinking to win my vote.
