Garden Grove Man Fatally Shot During Barroom Argument
STANTON — One man was shot and killed and another taken to jail after a barroom dispute ended in gunfire early Saturday, an Orange County sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Esteban Gutierrez, 22, of Riverside, was arrested just before 2 a.m. on suspicion of fatally shooting George Carillo Reynoso, 22, of Garden Grove, said Sheriff’s Lt. Keith Brown.
The men were at the Extasias Caliente Bar in the 11000 block of Beach Boulevard and were arguing at a table, a bartender told investigators.
Reynoso suddenly got up and ran to a back room. Gutierrez chased after him and fired two or three shots, Brown said.
“Gutierrez returned to the bar still carrying the handgun. He was immediately apprehended by two security guards,” said Brown, adding that a semiautomatic pistol was recovered.
Authorities were called to the bar about 1:50 a.m., and Reynoso was taken to Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Gutierrez was booked at the Orange County Jail.
