Coast Guard to Offer Boating Safety Tips
Surviving a boating accident will be the topic of a daylong open house next week at the Coast Guard’s Channel Islands Harbor station.
The events are free.
The Coast Guard cutter Point Carrew will be open for tours, and tips on boating safety will be offered.
The Fishermen and Boaters Safety Open House will begin at 10 a.m. March 19 with a tour of the cutter. At 11 a.m. a demonstration will show how to use a pump to bail out a boat, and at 12:30 p.m. the helicopter rescue demonstration is scheduled to start. The open house will continue until 4 p.m.
