Cal State Fullerton has signed five high school soccer players for next season, including one whose father played for Coach Al Mistri in high school.
Jose Dumond of Redlands, whose father Joe played for Mistri at La Verne Damien High, played at San Bernardino Aquinas High last season as a midfielder. Joe Dumond also played for the Titans in the early 1970s.
Mistri also signed defender Ray Ramirez of Chino Don Lugo High. “He’s an impact player,” Mistri said. “He will play for us next season as a freshman.”
Other signees are Eric Grambacher, a goalkeeper from La Verne Damien; Rigo Pardo, a midfielder from Etiwanda High, and defender Jason Ziglar of Port Orchard (Wash.) High
“I’m pleased with this class of recruits,” Mistri said. “It will fill the needs we have.”
The Titans lose three seniors from last season’s team--Sheldon Thomas, Charlie Lynch and Keiichi Yamamoto.
