Tribute Planned for Parade-Bound Band

Rep. Brad Sherman, whose district includes Thousand Oaks, will be among those paying tribute Tuesday when the marching band and color guard unit of Thousand Oaks High School are honored by the City Council.
Band director Bill Hoehne and his 190-member squad have been chosen as the 1999 Southern California entry for the Rose Parade, the first honor of its kind for a high school band in Ventura County.
The presentation is set for 6 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Forum Theater.
In addition to Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) and the council, which will hold the special session before its regular meeting, a Tournament of Roses official from Pasadena will also be on hand to honor the band.
The public is invited to attend.
