* Clovis at Foothill, 11 today: Clovis, the defending Central Section champion, continues its Southern California tour continues with a doubleheader against Foothill, which reached last year’s Southern Section Division I title game. The Knights are ranked fourth in The Times’ preseason poll, and possess one of the county’s best hitters in shortstop Jaime Clark. Clovis’ sophomore pitcher, Jamie Southern, was last year’s state freshman of the year in helping her team to a 37-3-2 mark.

* Woodbridge at Marina, noon today: Marina gets a chance to find out just how good it is when it faces the county’s third-ranked team in a doubleheader. The Vikings return pitcher Heather Hagen and four infield position players after a stellar performance in last year’s playoffs and a preseason No. 7 ranking. They’ll have their work cut out against Woodbridge, which features one of section’s best infields.
