Counseling Available for Storm Victims
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has earmarked $265,735 to counsel victims of this year’s El Nino-generated storms.
“The emotional toll a disaster exacts can be devastating,” Federal Coordinating Officer Dorothy M. Lacey said in a written statement. “A victim’s emotional recovery needs to be addressed.”
As a result of the grant, funneled through the state Department of Mental Health, flood victims who live in Ventura County--along with 40 other counties statewide--will be able to receive crisis counseling through at least April 10.
Residents who suffered losses or damage may register for crisis counseling by calling (800) 462-9029 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week.
