Vigil Planned for Young Gang Victims
A vigil to remember young people killed by gang violence is planned Friday in Santa Paula.
After a series of gang-related attacks in the city, organizers with The Faith Connection have scheduled the event with victims’ families and members of local congregations. About half a dozen young people have been killed in gang violence in Santa Paula over the past two years.
The outdoor vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at 251 N. Ojai St.
The Rev. Larry Tyler-Wayman said the event is intended, in part, to show strong public opposition to gang violence, as well as a remembrance of the victims of such violence.
