Officer Shot While Chasing 2 Suspects
A police officer was shot in the chin Tuesday night apparently while chasing suspects in a drive-by shooting in which one man was killed near Astoria Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, authorities said.
The unidentified San Fernando Police Department officer was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and was in stable condition late Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The officer was off-duty when he responded to the scene of a drive-by shooting at 4th and Huntington streets in San Fernando about 10 p.m. He was shot while pursuing the suspects, according to officers at the scene.
Police officials had no suspects in custody late Tuesday.
