Suspect in Fatal Liquor Store Shooting Is Released

A 19-year-old man who was arrested in the shooting death of a liquor store owner has been released and another suspect has been arrested, police said.

Demetrius Meloncon Smith was freed from jail Tuesday after a 16-year-old juvenile involved in the armed robbery turned himself in, saying that Smith was not with him during the robbery, Lt. Danny Sneed said.

Police on Wednesday arrested a second 16-year-old in the March 3 robbery and slaying at the Family Affair liquor store. He was charged with murder, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
