A $25,000 reward was offered Thursday for information leading to convictions of the gunmen who wounded a 52-year-old man in a case of mistaken identity near the Atwater area.
The man, whose name was withheld, was shot in the back Jan. 30 about 9 p.m. as he drove with his wife near Brunswick Avenue and Chevy Chase Drive, said LAPD Det. Lou Rivers.
“The shooting is believed to be an erroneous retaliation for an earlier gang-related incident,” Rivers said. “It appears that the victim was driving a car which closely resembled the car of the suspect who was involved in a prior gang-related attack.”
The reward was authorized by the Los Angeles City Council. Anyone knowing more about the crime is urged to call police at (213) 485-2566.
