48 Schools Receive Amgen Computers
The computer supply at 48 schools in Ventura County increased Thursday when educators picked up free computers and keyboards donated by biotech giant Amgen.
For months, juniors and seniors enrolled in the county’s Regional Occupation Program have taken the older model computers from the Newbury Park company, fixed them up and made them ready for the second annual computer giveaway, said Amgen spokeswoman Linda Martinez.
The schools, which had been on a waiting list, each were given three computer systems Thursday. Amgen distributes the computers on a first-come, first-served basis. The next equipment giveaway is scheduled for the fall.
