Community College Athletes of the Week
Julie Steele, Fullerton, Freshman
Track and Field
Steele, from Troy High, accounted for 42 of Fullerton’s 83 points Saturday at the Orange County Track and Field Classic. She set a meet record in the long jump (17 1/2 feet), tied another meet record in the 100 meters (12.66 seconds) and also won the triple jump (34-4) and high jump (4-10). She was selected athlete of the meet.
Softball
Michelle Bailon
* Cypress, sophomore. She had five doubles and a single in 10 at-bats and scored five runs as the Chargers won three times.
Ryan Poe, Saddleback, Sophomore
Baseball
Poe, a right-hander from Trabuco Hills High, pitched Saddleback’s first complete game of the season in beating Santa Ana, 14-1. Poe struck out nine, gave up five hits, and allowed only two runners to reach second base after the second inning. Poe is 6-1 after beating Orange Coast Tuesday.
Volleyball
Ryan Hiskey
* Orange Coast, freshman. He had 85 assists as Orange Coast won matches with Los Angeles Pierce and Pasadena.
