Sacramento’s Big Innings Top Titans

Sacramento State scored seven runs in the final two innings to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 9-4, in a Big West Conference baseball game Friday night at Fullerton.
Dan Elorduy led the Hornets (14-17, 7-3) with four hits, four runs scored and one run batted in. Pitcher Dustin Tubb (5-3) went the distance.
Kevin Duck had three hits and two RBIs for the Titans (20-11, 7-3). Teammates Ryan Owens and Reed Johnson each had two hits.
In nonconference baseball:
Chapman 15, Massachusetts Dartmouth 9--Bryan Lounsbury hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning for Chapman. Aaron Rifkin hit his seventh home run of the year for the Panthers (17-6). Rifkin had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Matt Barcellona had three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for Chapman. The Panthers had a season-high 19 hits.
In the Cal State Hayward softball tournament:
Chapman 7, Linfield (Ore.) 6--Amie Barnes hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the seventh, giving Chapman (24-2) the pool-play victory. In an earlier game, Stephanie Carew was three for three, with a single, double and triple in Chapman’s 2-0 victory over Chaminade (Hawaii). Carew hit the game-winning double in the first inning and freshman Catie Lacy (9-0) pitched a shutout.
In the UCI/Sheraton Newport Beach Marriott men’s tennis classic:
Northeast Louisiana 4, UC Irvine 2--The fourth-seeded Anteaters were upset in the second round, as Irvine got victories from Thomas Bohun and Brett Lucas.
