Business Owner Killed in Apparent Robbery
The owner of a recycling center in South-Central Los Angeles was shot to death near his business Monday morning during an apparent robbery attempt, sheriff’s deputies said.
Sun K. Fohn, 55, was shot in the face as he sat in his car outside a tire store in the 6300 block of South Central Avenue about 10:30 a.m., authorities said.
Fohn was returning to his business near the tire store when one of the two suspects approached the car and sprayed him with Mace, Deputy Boris Nikolof said. When Fohn tried to roll up the window, the second suspect shot Fohn, who died at a hospital, Nikolof said.
“He was a very nice man, but it seems like all the nice ones get killed,” said Andy Owens, the owner of the tire store. “He was a good . . . Christian and a good family man.”
The suspects were described as two male Latinos who left the scene in a beige van, Nikolof said.
