3.7 Northridge Aftershock Jolts Valleys
A magnitude 3.7 aftershock of the 1994 Northridge earthquake rattled the Simi and San Fernando valleys Friday afternoon, Caltech seismologists reported.
The 2:02 p.m. temblor was centered on the Ventura-Los Angeles county line about five miles northeast of Simi Valley, in the same general vicinity as a spasm of potent aftershocks ranging up to 5.0 that occurred about a year ago, on April 26 and 27.
No damage was reported in the latest aftershock, one of more than 14,000 that have followed the Northridge quake.
However, the frequency of the temblors has been decreasing year by year.
