Steinbrenner Delays Decision
New York Yankee owner George Steinbrenner said through a spokesman Friday that any decision on a new home for the team, whose Yankee Stadium lease expires in four years, would not be made until after this season.
Finding a new home for the Yankees, a simmering issue for years, intensified last month when a beam fell in the 75-year-old ballpark.
Consultants considering possible locations and stadium designs still have a lot of work to do; Steinbrenner is awaiting their proposals. “In all probability, that won’t be done until the end of the season,” spokesman Howard Rubenstein said.
The three potential sites for a new Yankee home are New Jersey, the West Side of Manhattan or the Bronx, Rubenstein said. Remaining in Yankee Stadium is a possibility if renovations are made, he said.

Ozzie Guillen, batting only .063, was released by the Baltimore Orioles. Catcher Charlie Greene was recalled from triple-A Rochester to fill his roster spot.
Guillen joined the Orioles in January after spending 13 seasons as the starting shortstop for the Chicago White Sox.
