Chapman Top-Seeded in West Regional Baseball Playoffs

Chapman is the top-seeded team in the NCAA Division III West Regional baseball tournament, which begins Thursday in Abilene, Texas.
Chapman (29-11) will play fourth-seeded Cal Lutheran (24-12) at 1 p.m. Second-seeded McMurry (31-13), the host team, plays third-seeded Southwestern (34-10) of Georgetown, Texas.

Chapman’s softball team is seeded No. 4 in the NCAA Division III finals this week in Salem, Va. The Panthers will play Cortland (N.Y.) State in the first round at noon Thursday. The double-elimination tournament’s final is scheduled for Sunday, with a second game Monday if necessary.

Southern California College is seeded No. 4 for the NAIA softball finals in Broken Arrow, Okla.
The Vanguards, who won the West Regional last weekend, will open the tournament May 19 against Western Washington.
The 16-team tournament ends May 22.
