Smart Weapons

“Smart” weapons approved by the NRA (Oct. 22)? Don’t hold your breath. By definition, anyone who packs away in a drawer the power to take away a life in an instant has an over-inflated sense of his or her own control. Gun owners love the danger, the risk that they believe they alone can handle, the sense that their own prowess has kept them out of harm’s way thus far.
A smart weapon, while saving lives, would take all the adrenaline out of gun ownership. Therefore, look for the NRA to ultimately oppose it.
