Church Seeks New Student Building
St. Mary Magdalen Church will ask the city Planning Commission tonight to approve a 4,032-square-foot classroom building to house its kindergarten and first-grade classes.
If approved, the new classroom will be built on a .35-acre site at the southeast corner of Chapel and Holly drives, now home to a playground and temporary parking lot.
The new L-shaped building would match the design of the existing chapel. It would also include meeting rooms, a library and storage facilities.
Meanwhile, the commission also will hold a public hearing tonight on a separate proposal to build a residential unit on a lot at the west end of Corte la Cienaga in the Spanish Hills area. The project has been recommended for approval.
The planning commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive.
